You send a marketing email (newsletter) to customers from the Customers screen. You can email all subscribed customers, the customers in a filter or search, or customers you tick. Only customers subscribed to your mailing list receive the email.
Before you start
Decide who the email is for. You can use filters to narrow down the list, for example customers who bought a certain wine. See How to find customers using filters.
If you want the email to come from your own email address, set up your From Email Address first. See How to send WithWine emails from your own email address.
To email club members about their membership, start from the Club Members screen instead. See How to send an email to your club members.
How to choose the customers
Go to Customers.
Choose who to email:
• To email every subscribed customer, don't apply a filter or tick anyone. The button reads Email All Subscribers.
• To email customers matching a filter or search, apply the filter or search. The button reads Email Filtered Subscribers.
• To email particular customers, tick each customer. The button reads Email [number] Subscriber(s).Check the number on the button. The number only counts customers who are subscribed to your mailing list. For example, if you tick two customers and only one is subscribed, the button reads Email 1 Subscriber.
How to create and send the email
Click the arrow next to the email button and choose Email Builder (or HTML Editor for an email designed elsewhere). The email opens at Choose Template.
Choose a template from Predefined Templates or Your Templates. To start from nothing, choose Blank Template.
On Email Details, check To shows your customers and the number of subscribers. Choose the From address, then enter the Subject Line and Preview Text. Click Continue. See How to write the subject line, preview text and From address for an email.
Design the email. See How to design an email in the email builder.
Send a test email to yourself and check it. See How to send a test email.
Click Send Now, or choose Scheduled Send from the arrow next to Send Now.
Important: Send Now sends the email straight away. There's no confirmation step, so check To, the subject and the design before you click Send Now.
What happens next
A message on the Customers screen confirms the email has been queued, for example "Your email [subject] has been queued for sending to 1 subscriber."
Emails usually arrive within a few minutes.
The email shows on the Emails screen with its results, and in each customer's email history. See How to see how an email campaign performed.
To save your work without sending, click Save Draft.
Troubleshooting
"There are no customers with valid email addresses matching your search." None of the customers you chose is subscribed to your mailing list. Only subscribed customers can receive marketing emails. See What happens when a customer unsubscribes from your emails?
The number on the email button is lower than the number of customers. The button only counts subscribed customers. Unsubscribed customers are left out automatically.
To changed to "club members" after I picked a template. The template was saved from a club email. Discard the draft and start again with a template made for customers.
