How to send a test email

Send a test version of an email to yourself or colleagues before sending it to customers. Test emails show the From address without the sender name, and the Unsubscribe link only works in real sends.

A test email sends a copy of your email to the addresses you choose, so you can check the email in a real inbox before customers see the email. Always send a test email before you send a campaign.

How to send a test email

  1. On the Design Email step, click the arrow next to Send Now.

  2. Choose Send Test Email.

  3. Enter an email address. Click + to add more addresses.

  4. Click Send.

Important: choose Send Test Email from the arrow. Don't click Send Now itself, which sends the email to everyone in To straight away.

What to check in the test email

  • The subject line and preview text in your inbox.

  • The text, images, buttons and links. Click every link and button.

  • If the email has a Cart block, click the cart button and check the wines, quantities and coupon at the checkout.

  • How the email looks on a phone.

  • That no template placeholder images (such as "Your image") are left in.

How test emails differ from real emails

  • Test emails show the From email address without the sender name. Real emails show the sender name, for example "Ridge Club".

  • The Unsubscribe link doesn't work in test emails. Real emails have a working Unsubscribe link for each customer.

  • The subject line is the same as the real email. There's no "Test" label.

Troubleshooting

The test email hasn't arrived. Test emails usually arrive within a minute. Check the spam or promotions folder, and check the address was typed correctly.
