How to create a Subscription club

Set up a standing order club: members choose their wines, bottles and frequency when they join, and are then charged automatically.

In a Subscription club, members choose their wines when they join, and WithWine charges them automatically on their schedule. On screen, this selection method is called Wines selected by customer at signup - System initiated. Subscription clubs are also called standing order or recurring order clubs. See What are the different club types?.

Before you start

Step 1: Create the club

  1. Go to Settings > Clubs.

  2. Select + Add Club.

  3. In Club name, enter the club's name, for example "Ridge Standing Order".

  4. In Selection method, choose Wines selected by customer at signup - System initiated.

  5. Add a Description and, optionally, a logo.

  6. Set Charge interval and Bottle quantity, or choose Selected by Member for either and tick the options members can choose from. See How to let club members choose how often and how many bottles.

  7. Optional: tick Use Month Scheduling and set the charge months. See How to schedule club charges by month.

  8. Leave Allow different selections for each charge interval unticked. See "Why we recommend one selection" below.

  9. Under Member benefits, set the member discount and any free shipping.

  10. In Terms and conditions, enter the terms members must agree to when they join.

  11. Under Advanced, tick Auto-retry failed payments and Enable Payment Failed Emails. See Why you should turn on failed payment retries and emails for your club.

  12. Select Save.

How Subscription clubs are priced

Subscription clubs don't have a Pricing method. Members pay the price of the wines they've chosen, less their member discount and any other discount they're entitled to.

Step 2: Choose the wines members can pick

After you save, open the club again. The Products available for selection section appears. Select Change Selection to choose the wines and mixed packs members can choose from. See How to choose which wines Subscription club members can pick.

Step 3: Optional discount tiers

After you save, you can also reward members who buy more with discount tiers. See How to set up club discount tiers.

Why we recommend one selection

Allow different selections for each charge interval lets members choose different wines for each of their packs in advance, for example pack A, pack B and pack C. WithWine recommends leaving this off: making several selections slows down joining a lot, and a single selection makes signing up quicker and easier.

Why there's no joining fee option

Charge on Signup isn't available for Subscription clubs. A Subscription club already has an automatic charge date from the day the member joins, so there's no need for it.
