What is the average bottle weight used for?

WithWine uses the average bottle weight to work out postage when a product doesn't have its own shipping weight.

The Average Bottle Weight is the weight WithWine uses for a bottle when it works out postage for a shipping label. It's only used when a product doesn't have its own shipping weight. The default is 1.3 kg.

How WithWine works out the weight

  • If a product has a shipping weight set, WithWine uses that weight.

  • If a product has no shipping weight, WithWine uses the Average Bottle Weight.

Change the average bottle weight

  1. Go to Settings > My Brand > Shipping.

  2. Under Shipping Integration, enter the new weight in Average Bottle Weight.

  3. In Average bottle weight unit, choose Kilogram, Gram, Pound or Ounce.

  4. Click Save at the bottom of the page.

What happens next

The new weight is used for shipping labels you buy from now on.

Troubleshooting

Label prices seem too high or too low. Check the Average Bottle Weight and its unit (for example 1.3 kilograms, not 1.3 grams). For heavier bottles such as magnums or sparkling, set a shipping weight on those products.
