How to create an order contents rule

Create order contents rules such as "$200 or more" or "6 bottles or more" to use in your shipping rates.

An order contents rule describes what is in an order, such as "$200 or more" or "6 bottles or more". You use order contents rules in your shipping rates, for example to give free shipping on orders of $200 or more.

Before you start

  • Decide what the rule should check: the number of products, the order total, or both.

Create an order contents rule

  1. Go to Settings > My Brand > Shipping.

  2. Next to Order contents rules, click Edit.

  3. Click Add Order Contents Rule.

  4. In Rule Name, type a clear name, for example $200 or more.

  5. In Applies To, choose:

    • Entire Cart to count every product in the order (this is the default), or

    • Specific Products to count only some product types. Tick the types to count: Bottle, Mix, Other, Gift Card or Reduction.

  6. Fill in the limits you need. You can leave any of them blank:

    • Min. Product Quantity (starts at 1)

    • Max. Product Quantity

    • Min. Order Total

    • Max. Order Total

  7. Click Done.

  8. Click Save.

Min. Order Total and Max. Order Total use the final value of the order after discounts. Shipping isn't included. Minimums include the number you enter. A Min. Order Total of 200 matches an order of exactly $200, and the saved rule shows as ≥ $200.

Example: $200 or more

  • Rule Name: $200 or more

  • Applies To: Entire Cart

  • Min. Order Total: 200

Example: 6 bottles or more

  • Rule Name: 6 bottles or more

  • Applies To: Specific Products, with Bottle and Mix ticked

  • Min. Product Quantity: 6

Mixes are counted by the number of bottles inside them, so a 6-bottle mix counts as 6.

Product types

  • Bottle: a single bottle of wine.

  • Mix: a pack of bottles, such as a mixed 6-pack. WithWine knows how many bottles each mix contains.

  • Other: non-wine products, such as key rings and t-shirts.

  • Gift Card: gift cards.

  • Reduction: an older way of giving money off, rarely used now.

What happens next

An order contents rule doesn't change shipping on its own. Tick the rule when you add or edit a shipping rate.

Troubleshooting

My "6 bottles or more" rule is counting other products. With Entire Cart, 5 bottles and a key ring count as 6 products. Change Applies To to Specific Products and tick only Bottle and Mix.

My rule isn't being used. Check the rule is ticked in a shipping rate, and that a more general rate isn't above it in your rates list.
