How to include or exclude a customer group from a loyalty tier

Limit a loyalty program tier to one customer group, or stop a customer group (such as trade or staff) earning loyalty credit.

You can use a customer group to control who earns loyalty at a loyalty tier. Each loyalty tier has a Customer Group setting with two options: choose a customer group so only that customer group earns at the tier, or choose the customer group marked (Excluded) so everyone except that customer group earns at the tier. For example, you might exclude trade customers or staff from your loyalty program.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Go to Settings > Loyalty & Credit.

  2. Under Loyalty Program Tiers, click Add Tier, or click Edit on an existing tier.

  3. In Customer Group, choose an option:

    • Choose the customer group's name to let only that customer group earn at this tier.

    • Choose the customer group's name with (Excluded) to stop that customer group earning at this tier.

  4. Click Save.

What happens next

  • WithWine checks the customer group at each order, so customers who join or leave the customer group are treated correctly from their next order.

  • Customers who don't earn at a tier because of the customer group setting don't earn loyalty from that tier on their orders.

Troubleshooting

  • Excluded customers are still earning loyalty: check every tier they could earn at. The customer group setting applies to each tier separately.

  • Nobody is earning at a tier: check you haven't chosen a customer group with no members, or one that doesn't match the customers you meant to include.
