Create a reduction for each set amount your staff need to take off orders, for example a $20 tasting fee that comes off when a customer buys wine.
Before you start
Decide the amount the reduction takes off. You enter the amount as a negative number, for example -20 for a $20 tasting fee. See What is a reduction?.
Steps
Go to Settings > Products > Reductions.
Select + Add Product.
In Name the reduction, enter a name your staff will recognise, for example Tasting Fee Reduction.
In Description, enter a short description of up to 120 characters, for example "$20 tasting fee taken off your wine purchase". Name the reduction and Description are both required.
Optional: add a Photo (under 1 MB), a Long Description, a WithWine App Description and a SKU Code.
Under Pricing, in Full Amount, enter the amount as a negative number. For a $20 tasting fee, enter -20.
Under Activate product?, select Yes. Activate product? is set to No by default.
Optional: under Stock, tick Enable Stock Tracking? if you want the reduction's movements to show on the Stock screen.
At the bottom of the page, untick Add another reduction? unless you want to add another reduction straight away.
Select Save.
What happens next
The reduction appears on the Reductions list with the status Available. Your staff can now add the reduction to orders in point of sale (POS), and to phone or back office orders.
Why it's called Activate product
For other products, this setting is about listing the product for sale. You don't sell a reduction to a customer, so for reductions the setting is called Activate product?. Select Yes to make the reduction available to use at the point of sale.
Troubleshooting
The reduction won't save. Check that Full Amount is a negative number, for example -20. A reduction can't be saved with a positive amount.
Staff can't find the reduction in POS. Check that Activate product? is set to Yes on the reduction.
