How product pricing works

How WithWine works out the price a customer pays: Full Price, Available Prices, quantity prices, club discounts and coupons. The customer always gets the lowest price they're entitled to.

Each product has a Full Price and one or more Available Prices. WithWine looks at every price a customer is entitled to, line by line in their cart, and charges the lowest one.

Full Price

Full Price is your full recommended retail price for one bottle. It's set in Settings > Products > Bottles on each wine, under Pricing.

Available Prices

Available Prices are the prices customers actually pay. Each row has:

  • Customer Group: who the price is for. All Customers means everyone.

  • Quantity Required: how many bottles the customer needs to buy to get the price.

  • Price: the price in dollars.

  • Price Type: how the price is applied (see below).

When you set List your wine for sale? to Yes, the first row is filled in from your Full Price for All Customers, for 1 bottle.

Sale prices

If the All Customers price is the same as the Full Price, the wine isn't on sale. If it's lower, the wine is on sale. For example, a Full Price of $45 and an All Customers price of $40 puts the wine on sale at $5 off a bottle.

Quantity prices

When Quantity Required is more than 1, there are two Price Type options. For a quantity of 6, they are:

  • Each in any 6: the price per bottle when the cart has any 6 bottles, including other wines and mixes. For example, $40 each in any 6. Once the cart has 6 bottles, the price applies to every bottle of this wine, including extra bottles (12, 18 and so on).

  • For 6 of this product: a price for a straight 6 of this one wine. For example, $195 for 6.

Club discounts

A wine club can have a blanket discount, for example 20% off. The club discount only applies to wines with Allow club discount ticked. This box starts unticked on every new wine, so you choose which wines get the club discount. For example, you might leave it off an expensive wine.

The club discount doesn't stack on top of a sale price. WithWine works it out from the Full Price and compares it with the other prices. For example, with a Full Price of $45, an All Customers price of $40 and a 20% club discount ($36), a club member pays $36.

Coupons

An order can use several coupon codes, but only one coupon applies to any one product. WithWine uses the coupon that gives the customer the best price. Each coupon has a setting that controls whether it can be applied to prices that are already discounted.

Which price wins

WithWine always charges the lowest price the customer is entitled to, for each product in the cart. It compares the Available Prices (including quantity prices and customer group prices), the club discount and any coupons.
