How to limit a shipping zone to certain postcodes or ZIP codes

Use the Postcode Filter to make a shipping zone cover only some postcodes in a state, for example a metro area.

The Postcode Filter lets you limit a shipping zone to certain postcodes (ZIP codes in the US) in a state. Use it when part of a state needs a different shipping price, for example a cheaper rate for Sydney Metro, or for New York City in the US.

Before you start

  • Know the postcodes or ZIP codes you want to include, either as a range (for example 2000 to 2100) or as a list.

Limit a shipping zone to a postcode or ZIP code range

  1. Go to Settings > My Brand > Shipping.

  2. Next to Shipping Zones, click Edit.

  3. Click Add Region to create a new shipping zone, or click Edit on an existing shipping zone.

  4. In Region Name, type a name, for example Sydney Metro.

  5. Click Add Criteria and click the state, for example New South Wales.

  6. In the row for that state, change Postcode Filter from None to Range.

  7. Enter the first postcode or ZIP code in Postcode From and the last one in Postcode To, for example 2000 and 2100.

  8. Click Done, then click Save at the bottom of the page.

The shipping zone then shows the state and range, for example New South Wales 2000 - 2100.

Limit a shipping zone to a list of postcodes or ZIP codes

  1. Follow steps 1 to 5 above.

  2. Change Postcode Filter to List.

  3. Enter the postcodes or ZIP codes separated by commas, for example 2000,2010,2026. The list must be comma separated.

  4. Click Done, then click Save.

What happens next

Use the shipping zone in a shipping rate. If an address is in more than one shipping zone (for example Sydney Metro and East Coast), WithWine uses the first matching rate in your rates list, so put the rate for the smaller area above the rate for the larger area.

Troubleshooting

Customers in my postcode or ZIP code range are charged the wider zone's price. The rate for the wider shipping zone is above the rate for the postcode zone. Move the postcode zone's rate higher in your rates list.

My postcode or ZIP code list isn't working. Check the codes are separated by commas.
