A shipping zone is an area you deliver to. It can be a whole country, one or more states, or a range or list of postcodes (ZIP codes in the US). You use shipping zones in your shipping rates to charge different prices for different areas.
Before you start
Decide which areas need their own shipping price, for example Sydney Metro, East Coast and Western Australia in Australia, or West Coast and Northeast in the US.
You need access to Shipping settings for your brand.
Create a shipping zone
Go to Settings > My Brand > Shipping.
Next to Shipping Zones, click Edit.
If a Country hasn't been added yet, select one from the dropdown then Add Country.
A Country can be a zone on it's own or you can set more specific areas by adding a Region.
Click Add Region.
In Region Name, type a name for the shipping zone, for example East Coast. Customers don't see this name.
Click Add Criteria. A list of states opens.
Click each state you want in the shipping zone. Each state you click adds a row under Region Criteria and shows a tick in the list.
Click Done. The shipping zone now shows as a list of its states.
Repeat steps 3 to 7 for each shipping zone you need.
Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Important: your shipping zones are only kept when you click Save. If you leave or refresh the page first, your changes are lost.
Example shipping zones
East Coast: Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and Victoria
Middle States: Northern Territory and South Australia
Western Australia: Western Australia
Tasmania: Tasmania
Add a country
To ship to another country, choose it from Add a Country at the top of the Shipping Zones page, click Add Country, then click Save.
What happens next
A new shipping zone doesn't change what customers pay until you use it in a shipping rate. Next, set up your shipping rates and choose a price for each shipping zone.
Troubleshooting
My shipping zone disappeared. The shipping zone wasn't saved. Create it again and click Save before leaving the page.
I only want part of a state. Use the Postcode Filter to limit the state to certain postcodes or ZIP codes.
