How to add extra From email addresses for newsletters

Send customer or club newsletters from a different email address and sender name, such as "Ridge Club", using additional From email addresses.

Additional From email addresses let you send newsletters from a different email address and sender name than your main From Email Address. For example, you could send order emails from "[Your brand name]" <orders@[yourdomain]> and club newsletters from "Ridge Club" <club@[yourdomain]>.

You add extra addresses on the Configure additional email addresses page. Each extra address has a Name (the sender name customers see) and a Type that controls which newsletters can use the address. Each extra address must be verified before you can use the address.

What additional From email addresses are used for

  • Additional From email addresses are for newsletters only: Customer Newsletter and Club Newsletter.

  • Order emails, such as receipts and invoices, always come from your main From Email Address with your brand name as the sender name.

  • You choose which address a newsletter comes from in the From field when you create the newsletter.

Before you start

  • Your main From Email Address must be verified. In Settings > My Brand > Brand Details, both Amazon Web Services Verified and WithWine Verified must show. See How to send WithWine emails from your own email address.

  • You need to be able to open the inbox for each extra address, because two verification emails are sent to each address.

  • Use an address on the same domain as your main From Email Address (for example club@[yourdomain] if your main address is orders@[yourdomain]). The Configure DKIM page sets up DKIM for that domain. Don't use a free address such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook.com or iCloud.

How to add an additional From email address

  1. Go to Settings > My Brand > Brand Details.

  2. Under From Email Address, click Configure additional email addresses. The page opens in a new tab.

  3. Click Add Email Address.

  4. In Email Address, enter the address, for example club@[yourdomain].

  5. In Name, enter the sender name customers will see, for example Ridge Club.

  6. Under Type, tick Customer Newsletter, Club Newsletter or both. Tick at least one type. An address with no type ticked isn't offered when you create a newsletter.

  7. Click Save.

  8. Open the inbox for the new address. Click the confirmation link in the email from Amazon Web Services, and the verification link in the email from WithWine. Both links expire after 24 hours.

  9. Go back to the Configure additional email addresses page and refresh the page. Check the new address shows a tick under both AWS and WithWine.

How to choose the From address for a newsletter

  1. Start a newsletter from the Customers screen or the Club Members screen. See How to create an email campaign.

  2. On the Email Details step, open the From list.

  3. Choose the address. The From list shows your main From Email Address and every verified additional address with the matching type. For example, a club newsletter shows addresses with Club Newsletter ticked.

How to edit, re-verify or remove an additional address

On the Configure additional email addresses page, each address has these Actions:

  • Edit: change the Name or Type.

  • Re-send Verification Emails: send the two verification emails again, for example if the links expired.

  • Remove Email: stop using the address. Newsletters can no longer be sent from a removed address.

What happens next

  • Newsletters sent from an additional address show the address's Name as the sender name, for example "Ridge Club" <club@[yourdomain]>.

  • Customer replies go to the additional address's inbox. Replies don't come back into WithWine, so make sure someone checks that inbox.

Troubleshooting

The Configure additional email addresses button isn't showing. Your main From Email Address isn't fully verified yet. Check Amazon Web Services Verified and WithWine Verified both show in Settings > My Brand > Brand Details.

The address isn't in the From list. Check the address shows a tick under both AWS and WithWine, and that the address has the right Type ticked for the newsletter you're creating (Customer Newsletter or Club Newsletter).

A test email showed the email address but not the Name. Test emails show the address only. Real newsletter sends use the Name as the sender name.

The verification links expired. Click Re-send Verification Emails next to the address, then click both links within 24 hours.
