How to send WithWine emails from your own email address

Set a From Email Address in My Brand so customers see your own address on WithWine emails, then verify the address with Amazon Web Services and WithWine.

You can send your WithWine emails from your own email address, such as orders@[yourdomain], instead of WithWine's address. Customers then see your winery's name and your email address as the sender.

You set your own address in the From Email Address field in Settings > My Brand > Brand Details. The address must be verified twice, by Amazon Web Services and by WithWine, before WithWine uses the address. After the address is verified, set up DKIM so your emails don't go to spam.

What happens if the From Email Address is blank

If the From Email Address is blank, WithWine sends your emails from "WithWine" <contact@withwine.com>. The emails are still signed off by your winery, and contact@withwine.com already passes all email checks (SPF, DKIM and DMARC). Leaving the field blank is a safe choice if you can't change your domain's DNS settings.

Which emails use the From Email Address

After your From Email Address is verified, WithWine uses the address for your order emails (such as order receipts and invoices) and for your newsletters. The sender name is your brand name, for example "[Your brand name]" <orders@[yourdomain]>.

If you want newsletters or club newsletters to come from a different address or name (for example "Ridge Club"), add an extra From email address. See How to add extra From email addresses for newsletters.

Before you start

  • Use an address on your own domain, such as orders@yourwinery.com. Don't use a free address such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook.com or iCloud, because you can't set up DKIM on those domains.

  • You need to be able to open the inbox for the address, because two verification emails are sent to the address.

  • You need access to your domain's DNS settings (or someone who has access) to set up DKIM straight afterwards. See What is DKIM and why should I set it up?

How to set your From Email Address

  1. Go to Settings > My Brand > Brand Details.

  2. In From Email Address, enter the email address you want customers to see.

  3. Save the page.

  4. Open the inbox for that email address. Two emails arrive, usually within a minute:
    1. An email from Amazon Web Services (no-reply-aws@amazon.com) with the subject "Amazon Web Services – Email Address Verification Request in region US West (Oregon)".
    2. An email from WithWine (contact@withwine.com) with the subject "Verify your email address to send email via WithWine".

  5. In the Amazon Web Services email, click the confirmation link.

  6. In the WithWine email, click the link to verify your address for WithWine. A message confirms the address has been verified and that order emails will also use this address.

  7. Go back to Settings > My Brand > Brand Details and refresh the page. Check that Amazon Web Services Verified and WithWine Verified both show in green under From Email Address.

Important: both links expire 24 hours after the emails are sent. You must click both links. Until both show as verified, WithWine keeps sending from contact@withwine.com.

What happens next

  • WithWine sends your order emails and newsletters from your From Email Address, with your brand name as the sender name.

  • Two new buttons appear under From Email Address: Configure DKIM and Configure additional email addresses. Each button opens in a new tab.

  • Set up DKIM next. Without DKIM, emails from your own address are more likely to go to spam. See How to set up DKIM for your email domain.

Troubleshooting

The verification emails haven't arrived. Check the spam or junk folder of that inbox. Check the address was typed correctly. Some business email systems hold emails from new senders in quarantine, so ask your IT provider to release emails from no-reply-aws@amazon.com and contact@withwine.com.

The links have expired. The links last 24 hours. Save the From Email Address again to get new verification emails, then click both links within 24 hours.

Only one of the two shows as verified. Both emails need to be clicked. Find the other email and click its link.

A verification email arrived that nobody asked for. The WithWine email says which staff member requested the verification. If nobody at your winery requested the verification, don't click the link, and message WithWine support in the chat.

Emails from my address are going to spam. Set up DKIM for your domain. See Why are my WithWine emails going to spam or showing as Unverified?
