How to get a card reader
You can order card readers through WithWine by contacting WithWine support, or buy your own Stripe card readers.
Types of card reader
Bluetooth readers (BBPOS WisePad 3, Stripe Reader M2) connect to the iPad or iPhone running Vintner over Bluetooth. They're small and portable.
Smart readers (BBPOS WisePOS E, Stripe Reader S700, Stripe Reader S710) have their own touchscreen and connect to the internet over Wi-Fi, or Ethernet with an accessory. The S710 can also use a mobile (cellular) connection.
Tap to Pay on iPhone turns an iPhone running Vintner into a contactless card reader, with no extra hardware.
iPhone and iPad requirements
Vintner needs iOS 26 or later on iPhone, or iPadOS 26 or later on iPad. To check, open the Settings app and tap General > Software Update.
Minimum card reader for Vintner on an iPad
Tap to Pay on iPhone doesn't work on iPad. To take card payments with Vintner on an iPad, you need at least a Bluetooth card reader:
Australia: the BBPOS WisePad 3 is the minimum. See BBPOS WisePad 3 card reader.
United States: the Stripe Reader M2 is the minimum. See Stripe Reader M2 card reader (US).
Both readers connect to the iPad over Bluetooth.
Our recommendation: Tap to Pay on iPhone
WithWine encourages wineries to use Vintner with Tap to Pay on iPhone. Your staff can take payment at the customer's table, instead of asking customers to come up to the bar, for a modern retail experience. See Why use Tap to Pay on iPhone with Vintner?.
