Why shouldn't I put the vintage in a wine's name?

WithWine adds the vintage to the wine's name in receipts, emails and lists. A vintage in the name shows twice.

When you add a wine, the form says Do not include vintages in the bottle name. Choose the year in Vintage instead.

Why

WithWine adds the vintage to the wine's name automatically in many places, such as email receipts. If the name already includes the year, the vintage shows twice. For example, a wine named "2024 Shiraz" with the vintage 2024 could show as "2024 Shiraz 2024" on a receipt.

Fix a name that includes the vintage

  1. Go to Settings > Products > Bottles and click the wine's name.

  2. Remove the year from Name the wine bottle.

  3. Check the year is selected in Vintage.

  4. Click Save.

Each vintage is a separate product

Each vintage has its own stock, prices and reporting, so each vintage is its own product. To add next year's vintage quickly, use New vintage. See How to add a new vintage of a wine.
