Stripe Reader S710 card reader

The Stripe Reader S710 is the S700 smart card reader with a built-in SIM card, so it can take payments over a mobile connection when Wi-Fi isn't available.

The Stripe Reader S710 is the same smart card reader as the S700, with a built-in SIM card. The S710 can connect over a mobile (cellular) network, so it keeps taking payments when Wi-Fi isn't available, for example at events or in the vineyard.

Available with WithWine in: Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Singapore.

Features

  • Android-based smart reader with a touchscreen, for countertop and handheld use.

  • Accepts chip cards, and contactless cards and digital wallets.

  • Connects over Wi-Fi, or Ethernet with the optional hub.

  • Battery lasts about 15 hours on a full charge. It needs about 12W of power, so use the Stripe power adapter and cable that come with it.

  • Leave it plugged in and turned on when you're not using it, so it receives software updates from Stripe automatically.

  • Built-in SIM card for a 4G/LTE mobile connection.

  • Chooses its connection in this order: Ethernet, then Wi-Fi, then mobile.

Mobile data fees

Stripe charges a monthly fee for the S710's mobile data, and your winery pays this fee. You only pay for mobile data on an S710, not on an S700.

Accessories

  • Case: a protective case.

  • Hub: gives the reader a wired Ethernet connection, keeps it charged, and has two USB-A ports for accessories such as a barcode scanner or printer.

  • Dock: holds the reader on your counter for customers to use, and charges it. The dock works with the hub.

See Stripe's S700/S710 accessories. You buy the accessories separately.

Wi-Fi settings

To connect to Wi-Fi, swipe right from the left edge of the reader's screen, tap Settings, enter the admin passcode 54299, then select Wi-Fi settings. To remember the passcode, think "Life Is Better With Wine": L-I-B-W-W on a phone keypad is 5-4-2-9-9. The reader and the iPad or iPhone running Vintner must be on the same network.
