WithWine uses Stripe to process payments. Before you can sell wine or other products, or receive payouts from your sales, Stripe must verify your company. You start the verification in WithWine and finish it on Stripe's secure pages.
Before you start
You need to be an enterprise user who can see My Companies.
The person completing verification must be authorised to act for your business. They don't have to be an owner or a director.
Have these ready: your business's legal name, address, phone number and website, and the authorised person's name, date of birth, home address, phone number and photo ID (driver's licence, passport or other government-issued photo ID).
Fill in your company details and bank details in WithWine first. They're passed to Stripe, so you don't have to enter them twice.
Check your verification status
Click the green + beside your name at the top left.
Click My Companies, then click your company's name.
Scroll down to Verification. Current status shows Not verified or Verified.
While your company is Not verified, you can't sell wine or other products, and you can't receive payouts from your sales.
Verify your company
On your company page, under Verification, click Complete Verification. Stripe's onboarding page opens.
Tell us about your business: check your legal business name and address, which come from WithWine. Enter your Business phone number and Business website, then click Continue. The legal name must exactly match the name on your tax registration (for example your ABN). If you don't have a website, click Don't have a website? Add product description instead.
Verify your personal details: enter the authorised person's legal name (as it appears on official ID), job title, date of birth, home address and phone number. Only tick I own 25% or more of the company or I'm a director of the company if they're true. Click Continue.
If Stripe asks you to verify your identity, click Start verification, then Agree and continue.
Choose how to take the photo of your ID: scan the QR code to use your phone's camera, or click Other options to get an email link, copy a link, or Continue on this device.
Click I'm ready and follow Stripe's prompts to take a photo of your ID. Take a clear photo with no reflections or glare, and make sure all the text is readable.
Back on your details, check ID verification shows Provided, then click Submit.
On Review and submit, check your business and personal details. Click Edit to fix anything. If other people need to be listed (for example owners or directors), click Add someone new.
Click Agree and submit.
What happens next
Stripe takes you back to your company page in WithWine.
When Stripe has verified your company, Current status shows Verified, with "You can sell wine or other products" and "You can receive payouts from your sales". The button changes to Edit Details.
Click Save on your company page.
Troubleshooting
Stripe couldn't verify the person's identity. Stripe asks for a photo ID. Click Start verification and follow the steps.
The ID photo was rejected. Retake it in good light, with no glare or reflections, the whole document in the frame and all text readable.
The status still says Not verified. Read the message under Verification on your company page. It says what Stripe still needs. Click Complete Verification to provide it.
