We'll see you We'll see you Well sometimes if the app weeks out there umm if it's trying to get the connection 02:29 but it can't sometimes it can crash sometimes umm and then umm when you re-open the app it says do you want to continue with the last order? 02:39 And and we've found out that a lot of staff are saying no I'll just start again but the problem is is that the payment's been taken but that order hasn't synchronized with the system yet so then when they get so when they get their deposit from us they go oh we've got more money than with one knows about 02:57 and thats because the payments been taken but the order hasnt been synchronized umm into with one yet yeah so thats one thing the other thing to be fair is that umm when youre doing this on an iPad so Ive just got the iPad app running on a laptop but when youre running it on an iPad the keyboard is actually 03:21 covering up the skip receipt button now we actually did this on purpose because we didnt want to make it easy See you next time. stop to skip the receipt we you know its all about capturing the customer's email address and adding them to the database while theyre staying in front of you but some people 03:39 who dont know that its actually behind that keyboard they get to the screen and they go well you know what I do now right umm you know I cant email the receipt but I cant email the receipt I dont have their email so some of them they go they hit the back button and they go complete order button hit the 03:57 back button and they dont put two and two together so some sometimes umm when theyre trying to work out what to do theyll just start tapping around and cancel the order umm or they might hit back again and it comes up with a little warning saying hey weve got the payment but you know people can do funny 04:14 things and say yep I want to continue anyway umm so that's just we call them orphan transactions so umm it's a an orphan transaction is one where the payment's been taken but the actual order hasn't been finalized into with wine and see you umm so now something that you can do i'll go back into go back 04:38 into here umm something that you can do is let's say umm so let's say i don't hit the skip receipt button here i just hit back Bye-bye! and then i you know i might sort of go umm whatever i'm back back continue I'm just I'm just unlike my grandmother in the TV I'm just clicking things around umm so Bye 05:04 . Yeah so a lot of orders will potentially be in the saved orders umm 07:18 queue and you can see that it automatically saves things in the background anyway in case there is a network failure umm so you can just pick up where you left off umm the other thing is that umm sometimes if there is a problem synchronizing if the order has been completed after the receipt screen umm 07:36 if the internet has a bit of a problem synchronizing that order umm it will be a completed order but there will be a little cloud icon I umm show up here umm to say hey there is a completed order but it hasn't been synchronized with the uhh with the uhh with the server yet actually so this thing is beeping 07:54 the background so I'm just going to switch that off umm and then uhh so I'm just thats the other one umm but the main main thing that uhh and its just really training is just for people to know that umm this receipt screen is not a completed order yet thats the main thing. 08:16 Thank you. Umm you know its quite common for staff to you know do the order take the payment and then Ive done it where Ive walked into a cellar door in the first thing in the morning and I see all the iPads sitting on this screen with orders from the day before. 08:32 Umm so youve actually got to youve got to complete this screen for it to go into the mothership. Now the other thing thats worth mentioning is that if I did an order today and I left this screen up Thanks for and then I come in the next morning and I go ah skip receipt that order is now being synchronized 08:55 with the server but it's synchronized the following day so the reporting will be out so you'll get a payment for you'll get a payment for Tuesday See guys next time! but with wine well think that the order happened on Wednesday umm which isn't the worst thing in the world you know the most important 09:11 thing is that you've got the money umm but you know you want things to be as accurate as possible so that's just another little another little thing to be . . aware of umm and again seeing that im just doing a short one today the other thing I thought Ive mentioned is that because umm nine times out 09:30 of ten the problems with the point of sale are to do with the internet umm sometimes its us sometimes there are bugs there and you know were able to fix them umm but sometimes or most of the time it is due to umm problems with the internet so umm we strongly strongly strongly advise people to Thank you 09:54 . Thought this out and get umm you can sort it out now pretty much all of Australia can sort this out now with Starling umm so now it's not as it's not really that expensive umm or this needs to be a perception that it's super expensive they're always doing deals on the hardware so I think the standard 10:12 price of the hardware is you know nine hundred and fifty bucks or something but they do do deals for umm particularly for remote umm for people in remote areas where they umm do this hardware for I think I saw it for three hundred dollars or something a couple of months ago umm but also the monthly fee 10:30 youre talking 130 dollars umm youre talking 130 dollars compared to NBN which is you know call it a hundred dollars umm . 10:40 But when the NBN is you know so many of these people are using NBN umm wireless to the I don't know the official nobody is like a dish on the roof pointing to the mobile tower umm and there's a tree in the middle and the internet you know whenever theres a pop of wind umm the internet starts freaking 11:01 out umm so for $30 a month umm just picks it umm for $30 a month those a month yeah it's it's highly recommended a couple of other things umm again we're not we're not networking specialists we don't pretend to be umm but some other things we've seen uhh where umm so I'm one that is using an older wireless 11:31 router that can only handle so many devices on the wireless network at one time umm or umm it can only handle so much bandwidth so umm one example was a we saw a while ago was where it was a couple of days after Christmas umm the the selladores point of sale just wasn't connecting up to the network and 11:54 they're saying no no no I'm getting I'm getting 30 down 30 megabits download speed. And umm and their phone was getting 30 megabits download speed because the router is going oh the phones the phone needs bandwidth to do the speed test so it prioritizes bandwidth to the phone meanwhile the pause the 12:14 iPad running the pause has been kicked off the network. Umm so you know there are routers that max out at you know depending on the age of the router max out at 2 devices 5 devices 10 devices 20 devices whereas most of the new most of the sort of new modern routers can handle 50 or more 50 or 100 Congress 12:32 . Umm but the other thing is prioritising that bandwidth where umm you know if one of the staff walks in umm with you know 10 minutes of 4k video from christmas day and umm and umm and their phone is set to upload that into iCloud and it's earliest opportunity so they walk into the sell-a-door umm their 12:54 iPhone sees a Wi-Fi connection and it starts going oh I can upload that video from a couple of days ago umm and the router goes oh this device Bye bye. here needs bandwidth because its uploading a you know so it kicks everything off the network and prioritizes that device so guess things like guess networks 13:13 stuff on the network all of this can cause problems umm it's a really good idea to have things set up where there's a wireless network called point of sale umm and nothing goes on that wireless network except the point of sale umm and you can also go into your Yeah. 13:36 Modem settings or your wifi settings and prioritise that network and make the other you know make the guest network and everything else umm a lower priority umm so thats umm something else the analogy I use when it comes to wifi and internet umm its probably not the best analogy but umm if you think 13:59 of umm if you think of the sell-it-all being a house and air being the internet So there s lots of air outside you have gotta get it inside umm so umm basically umm the air comes in the front door of the house that s the modem umm so the modem is all the front door might be the the front door. 14:25 The front door. door might be a small front door you want to you know you want to a new modem where the front door is wide open so air comes into the front door but now you ve got to circulate it throughout the house umm so that s the Wi-Fi so think of the Wi-Fi like the ceiling fans where you know you 14:38 re circulating air around the house . so you can have you can have four bars of you can have full WiFi reception but the front door is shut umm uhh so you know so you ve got great WiFi but you ve got no connection to the outside world you umm or you can have a great connection to the outside world but 15:00 the WiFi is bugged which is way way way less common but it can happen umm but uhh really the biggest problem is is a good stable connection which unfortunately nb and hasn't, hasn't delivered umm on that yet umm the uhh the other thing is that umm even if let's say hypothetically you're on nbn with addition 15:25 roof pointer towards the mobile tower in town We'll you in umm youre doing everything right your wifi is good your modem is good youve got all the umm youve got all the stuff off the network but umm that thing in the roof is pointed towards the tower in town and there's a festival in town with a thousand 15:47 people or whatever on that tower well that tower is not going to have much bandwidth to service you over here because its busy servicing the thousand people that are umm directly in the vicinity of the tower Thank you. So umm yeah so umm internet's just one of those things where umm it can be a bit of 16:09 a pain in the ass umm and umm and so yeah its I've certainly wouldn't off the record I certainly wouldn't umm rely heavily on the MBM providers umm but umm either get a you know either get a network specialist in who knows exactly what they're doing umm or the laymen like me will say you know point to 16:35 starlink umm because umm you cant really get too much more reliable than a few thousand satellites up in this up in space umm the only thing that umm that starlink needs is a click. 16:48 Connection uhh sorry is a clear line of sight to the sky umm so umm yeah so if you're in a psyllid or surrounded by massive gum trees that are sort of encroaching over the roof of the psyllid or umm then it's not going to be great so umm you do need a clear visibility to the sky umm and since im listing 17:12 out some some other examples. Another thing is that if the solid ore has ten walls, you're essentially a Faraday cage now umm so umm so umm you know if uhh cause some people don't have the thing in the roof they've got umm they might have the modem sorry they might have the Wi-Fi router inside the Faraday 17:35 cage And they take the iPad outside to service someone sitting at the tables outside but the iPad doesnt speak to the uhh you know doesnt speak to the modem thats inside umm so in that instance you can put a repeater umm like a WiFi repeater outside to sell it all Hope. 17:52 Umm if you dont have that set up umm sometimes for some people Ive just gone and gotten the WiFi around and put it next to the window so at least you know the WiFi signal can get through glass it just cant get through tin very well umm so yeah that thats just some things just to umm just I thought I'd 18:11 highlight but the main thing as I said is umm just getting the staff to be mindful that the order is not concluded if the receipt screen is not completed umm and just to Thanks watching! check those umm check those uhh completed orders there's no cloud thinking umm like on there umm and if there have 18:34 been any problems umm during the day that umm that there are no orders umm or no umm umm orders with completed payments in the saved orders screen umm but as always if you're not sure umm you know if you're not sure if a payment's been taken and we're talking about some some serious money jump on the 18:53 chat and we can look up everything and say yes that's gone through we will know it hasn't umm so obviously were always here to help with that umm and that was all I wanted to cover today umm that was the main thing thats been popping up this week umm so unless there's any questions I'll jump off and 19:10 let you get on with your day Bye.
